Crysis, the game that melted PC graphics cards the world over when it first released in 2007, lost some of its sheen over subsequent years as other shooter franchises gained prominence, but developer Crytek isn’t ready to put the series to bed just yet.
Crysis 4, a new entry in the futuristic first-person shooter franchise is “in the early stages of development so it will be a while yet,” said Avni Yerli, CEO of Crytek. A brief teaser trailer was launched alongside the announcement, but it didn’t include any game information or visuals.
“As development progresses, we will release more details when we can. But in the meantime, know that our dedicated and talented team is working hard to bring you a truly next-gen shooter,” Yerli added.
Crytek is also currently hiring staff to develop the game, so it will be quite a while before we get concrete information about Crysis 4. If you’d like to relive the action from the first three games in the meantime, Crysis Remastered Trilogy was launched last year and is available via the Epic Games Store.
