After a disastrous launch that has seen Battlefield 2042 plagued by technical issues and developer DICE inundated with fan outrage over missing features, EA is reportedly revisiting its approach to the game and may even go so far as to make the game free to play.
Battlefield 2042’s player base has been rapidly dwindling since its launch, with many fans even going back to older games like Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 1 in large numbers.
Noted gaming industry tipster Tom Henderson, citing company insiders, has now said that EA is disappointed with the launch of Battlefield 2042 and is exploring drastic corrective measures.
“EA is reportedly very disappointed with how Battlefield 2042 has performed and is ‘looking at all the options’ when it comes to the title, this is including looking at free-to-play in some capacity,” Henderson posted on Twitter.
However, there is no statement from EA to this effect so we would advise taking this report with a pinch of salt, even if Henderson is known for being quite accurate with his tips.
